I'm new to this subreddit. And I am glad to see that I'm not alone in being a step parent. Introduction, I'm 28 and my boyfriend is 37. I've lived with my boyfriend for a little over a year now. Their mom and I are still friends as we were before the divorce and she will be here to visit the kids this weekend for the first time in 2 years. My boyfriend got divorced and seeing as how he works constantly his only option was to move into a big house with his parents so he could have childcare while at work. His parents happen to be really unstable and psychotic control freaks. They alienated him from his own children in order to have full control of the household while he worked and paid all of the bills. His dad considered himself to be head of the household and didn't allow boyfriend to make any decisions about raising his kids.
