Upon follow-up with hotel staff, I was told the bathroom was designed specifically (in the 1910s, mind you) for women who wanted to shave their legs, or women who wanted to bathe small kids. Grounds for approval The "club and spa" part of the property is a big draw. In the club department, there's a sprawling fitness center, three pools, 10 tennis courts and a movement studio. In the spa department, there are 32 treatment rooms and a menu with options that mix bath, scrub and massage. The Claremont's on-site restaurants are worth noting, too. Meritage, the fine-dining restaurant (read more at), serves California cuisine, while the Paragon Bar & Cafe (read more at) is essentially an upscale sports bar. Perhaps the property's best attribute is its history; in the lobby, framed ads from yesteryear tell the story of the property. Geared up A 37-inch flat-screen sat atop the dresser. Free high-speed Internet also was available. Perhaps the only disappointment was the clock radio; the unit was the exact model my parents used in the late 1980s, when I was in high school.

The patio has great views of the Bay/SF! Ruby Red Cosmos and the Ahi Tuna are fantastic. Pretty sure this is the worst service I've ever had at a hotel restaurant.

(The Claremont says they're updating to iPod docking stations by summer. ) No refrigerator, but the honor bar sat on a skinny table in a corner. There were a safe and an iron/ironing board in the closet. In the vicinity There's a Peet's Coffee & Tea nearby (2916 Domingo Ave. ) as well as shopping at the clothing store Red Wagon (2926 Domingo Ave. ) and home decor store Ellington & French (2942 Domingo Ave. ). If you're looking for food, Rick & Ann's (2922 Domingo Ave. ) is nearby, as is Viva Taqueria, around the corner (2984 Russell St. ). Good to know Inquire about package deals; a special that ran through the holidays included three hours of complimentary child care and parking for rates as low as $189/night. Also, bring a raincoat; all hotel guests must go outside to get to the club, and in a rainstorm, the walk will get you soaked. We received a free app from foursquare and they honored it. Had a great time here. Excellent cocktails, people, ambiance. I will definitely be back soon. Came here for a Yelp Elite event. Love the palm trees, view of SF, and delish grilled cheese and tomato soup! Banana bread pudding a la mode - bomb! Wednesday night special - fried chicken with a biscuit, spinach and gravy.
